Pianist Bam Commijs has lived in Gouda for over ten years, but practiced primarily in surrounding cities. Recently, he has been heard more often in his own neighborhood, at concerts at his home in Goverwelle and elsewhere.
He learned his craft on the job. Improvisation and composition are at the heart of his music. His improvisations incorporate a lot of jazz, but also Eastern music and (modern) classical music. Bam previously released the CD “Shelter,” featuring soothing piano improvisations (also available on BandCamp and Spotify). He sometimes writes themes as the basis for these improvisations; a CD featuring these solos is in preparation.
During Gouda by Candlelight, he will give a solo performance, featuring vocal contributions from Gouda singer Tineke Prins, who is also very adept at improvising.
8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
