This year, on Friday, December 13th, we once again have a full-day program for all ages, with something for everyone. From rock to classical music, storytellers, musicals, a puppet show, and a silent disco.
We’re adding two new locations! Visit the atmospheric Gouwekerk, and don’t miss Christmas on Keizerstraat! This new location was created in collaboration with residents of this beautiful street.
The ceremony at the tree starting at 7 p.m. is all about music and tradition, but we are also adding innovative elements. For the 69th time, the Market will be attractively illuminated by candlelight. The main acts Leona Philippo and the ZA-EL Gospel Choir led by Elvis E provide a spectacular performance. Guaranteed to bring back the ultimate Christmas feeling!
Of course, our mayor will also give the traditional Christmas speech, and we look forward to the poem by our new city poet, Chris Bellekom. Around 8:00 PM, we’ll join the mayor of our sister city, Kongsberg, for a countdown to the magical moment when the tree lights are switched
It’s no coincidence that our theme this year is: : “Where music, theater, and candlelight bring people together.”
Together, we’ll celebrate the start of the Christmas season!
